Re: Connection from GPNF 406 to W2000, W1490
This is the same area that I am curious about. I made this post: https://www.oregonhikers.org/forum/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=view&f=0&p=24408 I got a little information and Ed Blodgett looked for a trail from the Bluff Mountain Trail but couldn't find a trail that went down into the Washougal River valley....

Re: Washougal River Trail
I'm planning to go along the Bluff Mountain Trail in a few weeks and try to find the trail from the top. From the top the red line I drew drops down the ridgeline between Bear Creek and Grouse Creek down to the Washougal River. As for the trail going west from Bluff Mountain, I don't see where you h...

Washougal River Trail
Has anyone tried to hike the Washougal River Trail from Deer Creek/Prospector Creek up along the Washougal River to the FS-41 Road or to the Bluff Mountain Trail? I see an old trail on my map but lost the track after two miles at 45°45.084', -122°07.032'. I started at 45°44.580', -122°06.816'. I att...

Re: Hantwick Rd TH - No overnight parking
Thanks! We are studying what to do on the Oregon side for the Eagle Creek fire. We want the trail to be in the backcountry as much as possible but we may have to use Trail #400 and the Historic Highway State Trail in places for quite some time.

Soda Peaks Lake 11/8/19
A friend and I hiked up to Soda Peaks Lake and Soda Peak on Friday. The trail is in great shape, just a couple of deadfalls. You'll see some huge old-growth trees along the trail, especially just after crossing Trapper Creek. You'll be walking through the forest and suddenly you notice all these hug...

Marble Mountain Snow Park, WA
I saw some flakes coming down, but the temps were about 34 degrees. The snow was wet and has consolidated so I didn't need my snowshoes to walk on the popular trails. Some of the trails hadn't been trodden on yet and you do need snowshoes for those. There is a slight ice crust on the unpacked snow a...

Re: Summerland - Mt Rainier 9.12.15
That was a great trip. Looking forward to good weather in October. I see the snow level is dropping down to 6000 feet again, which will freeze the wildflowers. I only saw one Monkeyflower at Summerland. I hiked a trail off Westside road Monday and the fall mushrooms were really sprouting. The warm w...

Re: Lower Catherine Creek/Major Creek off trail exploration
I was wondering how you got that picture of the woodpecker with your camera. The birds hardly ever wait long enough for me to get a good picture.

Re: Thursday, October 20?
I too saw the change in the weather coming so I'm off to hike Mt. Defiance tomorrow (Wednesday). Sorry I have other plans on Thursday.
Too bad you couldn't hike defiance tomorrow.
