New (Legal) Trail up from Lyle/Cherry Orchard?

Yesterday while doing the Lyle Cherry Orchard loop, we headed up the powerline maintenance road before heading back. About a quarter mile up the hill from one of the Bonneville powerline structures, we noticed a new trail being built. It looks like it is being dug with a pick and shovel and is on DN...

Re: Yikes - I stepped on a rattlesnake!

We were there yesterday doing the same loop as described. Thanks for the heads up on the rattlesnake - we were extra attentive on that last portion of the loop where it meets up with the original Lyle/Cherry Orchard trail. We did not encounter a snake there but did about 0.40 miles up from the TH wh...

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels

Drove up to Silver Star Grouse Vista and parked at the side of the road about 2 miles from the trailhead. The snow was about 12" - 14" deep. The road up to that point is in reasonably good shape aside from the usual large potholes. We hiked up about another 1 3/4 miles in what became deep, soft, slo...

After reading the trip report last week from Willruss_5, I thought the time was now to try another hike that has been on my list for quite sometime. We headed to the Bonneville trailhead and up the Tamanous trail on Friday. I considered parking on Cascade Drive in North Bonneville and shaving off so...

Re: Leidl Ridge

I will say that we did not see a single wild turkey while hiking nor any sign that they were around. We did see some driving to the trailhead though.

Leidl Ridge

I have had Leidl Ridge on my hike list for years and decided to give it a try this week in order to visit before turkey hunting season begins. We landed on a beautiful day with temps around 50 degrees and, for the most part, a sunny day. My earlier reticence may have had something to do with going o...

Leidl Ridge

Has anyone hiked the Leidl Ridge in maybe the last year? I am interested in doing this before turkey hunting season starts but am not finding any recent trip reports - the last being Bobcat's posted in May 2020. It looks like it is all within the Klickitat Wildlife Area and accessible to the public ...

Hiked up to TDH today under blue skies. Left the parking lot with spikes on and glad to have them the entire way. Snow shoes not necessary. Packed snow and ice all the way up. The wind was constant and didn’t stop all morning. It was quite fierce up top. All the peaks to the north were out but Mt Je...
