Bell Mountain Trail Temporary Closure
Bells Mountain Trail is temporarily closed through March 31st, 2021, Mon.-Fri. for logging operations. (As the field guide mentions it could be.) The sign is posted at the Moulton Falls - Bells Mountain Trail Junction and indicates the closure is 2 miles up the trail. https://www.oregonhikers.org/fi...

Ecola Point to Indian Beach Trail Open
Hiked from Cannon Beach to Indian Beach in Ecola Park and found the trail from Ecola Point to Indian Beach to be open and significantly rerouted. Don't know when the reroute was completed and the trail officially reopened. The new route adds about 0.9 mile and elevation gain. The trail heads east to...

Bell Camp Road Trailhead
Tried to drive to the Bell Camp Road Trailhead (https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Bell_Camp_Road_Trailhead) today, following directions, but Dober Road was gated and locked shortly after turning onto Dober from NW Timber Road. IMG_5626.JPG We ended up going to Reeher Forest Camp and continuin...

Wildcat Mountain Road closed to New McIntryre Trail
Tried to drive to the New McIntryre Trailhead on Nov. 5 and found it gated at the junction with the road to the Douglas TH (by the quarry). Seemed early, so I called the forest service and was told it is gated during hunting season and then kept locked over the winter. Just FYI as I could not find W...

Neahkahnie from North TH Closed
Drove to hike Neahkahnie, large sign across trail access from highway 101. https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=139 "Neahkahnie Mountain Trail north from the south trailhead to about 500’ beyond the summit viewpoint (45.743830, -123.947673 ) is open for an out-and-back hike...

Re: Long time reader, first time poster
My friends and I just use Google Drive, share docs and sheets with edit privileges. Also use Gaia to create routes to determine mileage (seems to get the mileage right, not sure of elevation gain). Don't know of any more specialized apps or sites to use.

Re: Old Skyline Trail (Lake Branch segment) – 07-02-20
I hiked this section of the Old Skyline in October (and should have read this post first because I looked for the Lake Branch Trail shown on Nat Geo and could not find it). I hiked along the Old Skyline from Lost Lake Butte, crossed Lost Lake Road, and walked along closed FR-13 until FR-13 crossed t...

Indian Heaven Cascade Crest
Backpacked from Falls Creek Horse Camp to Indian Racetrack, up to Red Mountain, north on the CCT and back down the PCT after camping at Tombstone Lake at the end of Sept. We had great views from Red Mountain all around. The following day smoke had moved north blocking views of the peaks so we lucked...

Little Wildhorse Lake (Steens)
On a road trip in southeast Oregon we walked up to the Steens Mountain high point (up a road to radio towers) and then to Little Wildhorse Lake and some cross country hiking toward Big Indian Gorge. Amazing terrain and views, although obscured by smoke.
