Twin Lakes from Frog Lake Snopark Snow Level Report

Snowshoed from Frog Lake Snopark up the PCT, east on Palmateer trail and south by Twin Lakes on Sunday. It was a beautiful day, plenty of parking (lack of snowmobiles), but snow is not deep. Trails directly to Twin Lakes, with most of the traffic, had spots down to dirt. Driving back through Hood Ri...

Re: Found: Winter Gear at Lamberson Spur on Jan. 19th

Awesome, thank you. The Gaia base map and Open Street (as seen on Gaia) match the red line. Good to know to ignore the old USFS alignment, until there is no trail to follow.

Re: Found: Winter Gear at Lamberson Spur on Jan. 19th

We didn't quite make it to your end of the trail waypoint. Before getting to the end of the trail, does the actual trail follow the red line or the maroon/black line on your map? I am using Gaia and different maps show the trail in different places. Thanks. I am looking forward to trying this route ...

Re: Found: Winter Gear at Lamberson Spur on Jan. 19th

We snowshoed from Polallie on Sunday. It was a nice, clear day. The route was well-traveled and packed up to the Tamanawas Tie Trail. Some tracks continued to the Lamberson Spur trail and from there we followed tracks from one person for 0.7 miles. We continued on breaking trail for another mile, bu...

Re: Mt Defiance trail conditions in Mid November-Early December?

Hiked Green Point Mtn loop on Sunday. Not a bit of snow anywhere. Couldn't see any on Mt Defiance either, although we were looking at an exposed slope.

Re: proposal for McGee Creek Trail: abandon or realign

I hiked McGee creek trail for the first time on Sunday and very much enjoyed it. Thinking about returning during huckleberry season. We hiked up the PCT from Lolo pass, to Bald Mtn, up the Timberline a way to viewpoints, back and down McGee and then walked the road back to Lolo pass. I'd really like...

Elk Creek Campground Open Year-round

Not sure where to post this. I subscribe to the Tillamook Forest blog and received notice of campground closures, which did not include the Elk Creek campground. ODF confirmed the Elk Creek campground changed from seasonal to year-round in 2018. Saves some road walking to access the trails.

Family Falls and Ogle Mtn Trail

Following old trip reports, we hiked to Henline Falls, the various Family Falls and Ogle Mtn trail until the East Fork of Henline Mtn. 1 Henline Falls.JPG From Henline we backtracked to a rocky path we noticed on the way in. This took us too high, nearly to Ogle. When we crested, we noticed a side t...
