Re: Dog poo sacks along trails: Why?

I don't know Guy, but I second his question: what are actual cases where dog poop in forest environments has damaged it? Surely there are some actual cases.

Yesterday, Feb. 6th, Danielle Kurtzleben wrote a piece on "relative deprivation" . Kurtzleben is an political reporter for NPR, and data junkie who launched Data Mine " when she was at US News & World Report. selling off federal lands: part 3

Some states really, really want to take over their federal lands. Utah and Alaska are probably at the top of the list. An NPR segment today touched on the efforts of Utah's Rep. Re: HR 621, Disposal of Excess Federal Lands Act

The promised withdrawal of HR 621 has yet to appear on congress.gov as an action, if Chaffetz is indeed going to go through with it. The 3.3 million acres called out in the bill all fell under BLM. No NPS or USFS lands. The tracts were identified as a result of a nationwide search back in 1997 when ...

HR 5758: land-swap bill 'win-win' per Wilderness Society

... and a land-swap bill that is actually supported by environmental/wildlife/wilderness groups, such The Wilderness Society. Another preview of legislation beyond the horizon, land-swap bill titled "Advancing Conservation and Education Act". The House bill was introduced in July 2016 by Chaffetz an...

Re: HR 2316: States to carryout extractions on NFS lands

Threats have these two facets: ownership and extraction. Ownership seems much less pressing given Trump and Zinke. But I think Trump's stance is based not on reverence but on his history as a developer. So the foundation of Trump's "keep-public-lands-public" stance would seem quite vulnerable to his...
