Corvallis to Coast Trail (C2C)

Living in Corvallis and being a hiker, I am a little embarrassed it took me this long to do this hike. I've volunteered with the C2C organization a few times doing trail work on parts of the trail. As part of my preparation for the PCT this summer, I am trying to knock out a few of the longer trails...

Eagle Creek Trail Minor Rockslide

I went to Eagle Creek yesterday morning to try to do the hike up to Tunnel Falls. About .75 miles in (where the first set of cables are), the overhanging rocks had fallen onto the trail burying the cable. The trail itself seemed intact, but the overhanging rocks that had fallen onto the trail defini...

Re: Eagle Creek Trail Reopened

Thats exciting news. This was the first place I went over night backpacking, and fell in love, and my girlfriend has wanted to go see it, and hasn't been able to. I guess I gotta make a plan for later this month to get up there!

Re: 3 Fingered Jack Snow Levels

Update: Me and my friend hiked the loop on Saturday. The eastern half was pretty much snow free (a few small clumps maybe 5-10 ft across and 1 ft deep). Once we hit Wasco lake and climbed up to the PCT, we had scattered snow for the first mile. Then the next 6 miles around 3FJ was heavy snow (no tra...

3 Fingered Jack Snow Levels

Just popping into see if anyone has been up there in the last week or so. I was going to try to hike around the mountain soon, and heard reports of snow early May, but don't know if its scattered or plentiful. I can deal with a mile or two of snow and postholes, but I don't know if I can do 20 miles...

Oregon Desert Trail in February

Hi everyone - My work is going to be shutdown for most of February for construction, so I will have 1-4 weeks to play with. I was hoping of going to eastern Oregon and hiking some sections of the ODT. Longest stretch I would want to do would probably be 40-50 miles, but ideally I wouldn't just be hi...

Re: Breightonbush Lake Trailhead

Yeah. Last summer me and my lady took her impreza up that road to the lake and then hiked over to Jeff Park from there, and we may have ripped part of her bumper on the way up. Part of it looked like a landslide had covered the 'road', and other sections had washed away and had like an 18" stream in...

Broken Top Aug 15-16 2020

I had made a loop of Broken Top in 2016 or 2017, but I went counterclockwise, and skipped the rim trail and instead did some roadwalking on the SE section of the loop, followed by walking through a long clearcut hike connecting back up to the Tam Trail. I felt like I needed to do it again, but going...

Re: maps

I know you specifically said buy maps, but with your smart phone, unless youre going to be gone long enough for your battery to die, or you really love the tactile feel of paper maps, the USFS has great free maps in pdf form for download.*** https://data.fs.usda.gov/geodata/rastergateway/states-regi...

Re: Camping suggestions on PCT Mathieu Lakes to Sisters Mirror Lake?

The whole area is gorgeous. I have a trip report from last summer about hiking from Obsidian down to South Sister which will cover most of this area, if you want to look at any of it. There is great camping at Eileen Lake, its about a mile off the PCT. Tremendous views of the 3 sisters, and you're s...
