Re: Cottonwood Canyon - Lost Corral Trail - 2-2-21
Thanks arieshiker. I'm headed that way later this week. This piques the interest and helps with planning. This area is close to home. I'll get to show it to friends from PDX. From another thread you asked about posting reports for frequently experienced hikes. Hikes I do often feel like old friends....

See USFS alert: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mthood/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD799173 Wow - I was just up on Cooper Spur yesterday. May a...

Re: Saw my first Black Bear
I've had two sightings along the Tamanawas Falls trail. One was on the other side of the creek lumbering along the banks; the other was two cubs near the talus slope that blocked the trail a few years ago. Wish more folks knew about this. Maybe the TH parking lot wouldn't be overflowing all the time...

Re: Strawberry Mountain Wilderness
I eyed this area lovingly while hiking in the southern Elkhorns a few years ago. Wonderful photos. Haven't been there yet....getting closer to making it happen. Hope your doggie fares better on hikes this summer.

Spectacular scenery and report. I'm surprised by the flowers. Vivid colors.
I just watched the film "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind," and this post came to mind. Malawi is intriguing.

Awesome photos ! You captured the beauty of the area so well. The pix beckon me to return. Was there last July, between north TH and Twin Lakes. Looks like you had a fine trip.

Road to Marble Pass TH in Elkhorns
What's your take on the road up to Marble Pass trailhead? Would a Subaru AWD Outback Wagon make it? Descriptions seem awful and call for possibly higher clearance than my Subaru might offer. We're planning a trip to do Elkhorn Crest later this summer.
Thanks,
Pika

Re: Day Hikes Near Hood River In Late August
Wind protection is often the issue heading to Cooper Spur. I can't count how many times I've been grateful for packing a windbreaker -- even in August.
The views on the east side of Mt. Hood are fabulous - you can see into Central Oregon if it's clear.
Enjoy,
Pika
