Oregon Hikers

Thanks arieshiker. I'm headed that way later this week. This piques the interest and helps with planning. This area is close to home. I'll get to show it to friends from PDX. From another thread you asked about posting reports for frequently experienced hikes. Hikes I do often feel like old friends....

I've had two sightings along the Tamanawas Falls trail. One was on the other side of the creek lumbering along the banks; the other was two cubs near the talus slope that blocked the trail a few years ago. Wish more folks knew about this. Maybe the TH parking lot wouldn't be overflowing all the time...

Good to hear this about a September time frame. I'm planning a 60th birthday trip mid-month.

I eyed this area lovingly while hiking in the southern Elkhorns a few years ago. Wonderful photos. Haven't been there yet....getting closer to making it happen. Hope your doggie fares better on hikes this summer.

The Clark Creek bridge work is done. I was up there yesterday and it looks great.

What's your take on the road up to Marble Pass trailhead? Would a Subaru AWD Outback Wagon make it? Descriptions seem awful and call for possibly higher clearance than my Subaru might offer. We're planning a trip to do Elkhorn Crest later this summer.

Wind protection is often the issue heading to Cooper Spur. I can't count how many times I've been grateful for packing a windbreaker -- even in August.

The views on the east side of Mt. Hood are fabulous - you can see into Central Oregon if it's clear.
