Re: Exploring/Reviewing Timothy Lake (a crown jewel of Mount Hood National Forest)
Cannot even get a CG reservation in the summer. Glad we went there years ago. Used to camp at Claackamas RS in the ‘40-50’s before the lake.

Re: Wahkeena/Multnomah Loop - and trail condition report
Scenic Area actually hired 2 seasons for this winter trail work. First time in 33 years instead of waiting for summer seasonals. Winter is when things happen especially after a super dry summer season that shrinks the soil so heavy rains cause rock to come loose especially after the fire burned root...

Re: Multnomah Falls Paved trail hanging in the air?
We have been told that volunteers can only advise people that there are hazardous conditions and almost impossible to close a trail. Use common sense and CRGNSA hired 2 seasonals this winter for trail work. Nathaniel Brody is currently on detail as the PAO for region 6.

Re: Devils Rest Halloween
Claude Dhone as head trail supervisor okayed it as long as did not look like official signs so people would not get lost in upper area. Claude retired with 42 years in the Gorge and he went with a lot of times with our PCT crews after the ‘91 Fire and used the Foxglove to access Wahkeena trail. He a...

Re: Devils Rest Halloween
Started going there in the ‘60’s with a DDHS hiking club and started taking a pumpkin up each year around Halloween time. Then most of the Foxglove trails were logging roads and then the FS decommissioned them. Some of us from the Mazamas kept brushing unti the ‘91 Fire. Then I went up as a PCTA cer...

Re: Red Shorts Cut to Devils Rest 6-12-23
After I’m ‘92 cutting out the 42 logs on the Focglove and then the next year putting up 14 trail signs on junctions it is good to see that others have taken over. Had the blessing of Claude Dhone FS as people kept getting lost and the used the Foxglove from the Basin Road to access the Wahkeena trai...

That is what we do and watch for Lewis Woodpeckers along the way. Been doing ever since the FS got the property and helped put in the lower paved trail. One year there were sheep below the power lines.

Don,
Really appreciate your doing this as since I hit 84 my energy has kept me on shorter hikes and doing garden work at Leach Botanical Garden.
I started clearing and putting up signs after the ‘91 Fire every year. Before that had some help from The Mazamas and FS. FOXGLOVE lives.
