Hells Canyon Day Hikes

I'm looking at options to hike Hells Canyon. Ideally one day, 12 miles max. I read there are shuttle services, so I assume I can go from point-to-point if needed.

Timberline Loop (Clockwise). August 27-31, 2020

My friends and I completed the Timberline loop in five days, four nights. We traveled clockwise, beginning and ending at Timberline Lodge. The conditions are perfect. There are plenty of river crossings ranging in difficulty. These areas require some route-finding. There were a lot of people on the ...

Re: Goat Rocks, Old Snowy Mt. and Goat Lake loop 081220

Great TR! I was out there last week. I did the same loop. Instead of Old Snowy, I went up to about 7,200' at Hawkeye Point. The bugs were terrible but I had a wonderful time! Below is a link to a few photos.

Re: Timberline Trail July 23-26 2020

From a before Cooper Spur till after Newton Creek there is only some small glaciers putting out VERY small streams of water. Best to fill up for this section, there very little shade. If I'm not mistaken, this section crosses the highest point on the trail (7,320 ft). My map has it at 45.37370, -12...

Re: Upper Siouxon Loop 7-31-2020

Love that area! I went overnight, July 20-21. I completed a longer loop, taking the Huffman Peak trail. Wildcat Falls is my favorite of the waterfalls there.

Re: Circumnavigate Mt. Adams

...Goat Rocks instead. It also requires excellent cross-country skills in very rugged terrain, but more of it can be done on existing trails and it can be done without trespassing. Thanks for input! Goat Rocks is on my bucket list and I mapped out a loop: https://caltopo.com/m/6G7E . I think I will...

Circumnavigate Mt. Adams

Has anyone circumnavigated Mt. Adams? I would be interested in reading trip reports and recommendations. Thanks!

Re: Siouxon Peak Loop

As of July 30, 2019, the tricky slide you mentioned is still there, and still dangerous. It is only two or three steps to get across, but a misstep here would be very serious. I would probably advise against doing this loop in order to avoid this slide crossing. It is just not worth it. Siouxon Pea...

Re: Recommendations for creek backpacking near Portland?

Where did you end up going? I recommend Siouxon Creek in Washington. It's about an hour and a half from Portland. You can do an out and back trip.

Wallowa Lake Loop - Eagle Cap Wilderness

Hello fellow hikers! I am seeking one or two people to join me on a trip in the Wallowas. I have mapped out the route. Here is the link: https://caltopo.com/m/Q1M4 Hiking clockwise, we would start on the East Fork Trail. It can be done in three days with about 8 miles max each day. I expect a challe...
