Re: Sleeping Beauty

The north side appears to have plenty of climbing potential too.

It's my understanding the sun's rays are at a right angle to earth's surface only at the equator. But I could be mistaken. :geek:

Re: Area by Indian Heaven - First Real Snow

I have wanted to gather chanterelles for several years but I don't know where to look and I don't know how to avoid posioning myself. Any suggestions?

Re: South Sister Mystery Trail

The trail snakes through the lava flow, mostly going downhill. Just after one mile, the trail ended. Guess what was there. Absolutely nothing. No measuring device, no remnant of a lookout, no Indian Pits, nothing that wasn’t just plain rock. Very anticlimactic. That really is a mystery! If it...

Re: 2021 Fall colors thread

Yesterday I drove from Carson to Windy Ridge east of MSH. Nearly the entire route had yellow fall color, plus red and orange in places especially approaching Windy Ridge.

Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny; if you have the day off and are undecided what to do with it consider this.

(trailhead #3)This is the farthest-down-valley trailhead, closest to old forest. A faint informal path leads from the end of this road to the trail proper in about 400 yards. No trailhead sign, though.
Do you have GPS coordinates for trailhead #3?

Good sleuthing, Webfoot! The only thing I'll add to the list are 40-150mm Oly zoom lens and a pouch with three neutral density filters + step up mounts. All very light and compact, as well.
You put them to good use. Do you carry a GorillaPod?
