Re: Clark Creek and Heather Canyon (Oct 10)

Heather Canyon is beautiful in summer with the flowers but I had no idea that area had such lovely color in the fall. Thanks for the gorgeous photos through which to enjoy it. I'll try to see it in person next year.

Re: 2021 Fall colors thread

Thank you. What about my post was troll bait? I am using a wide gamut (DCI P3) monitor at about 200 nits for editing, then converting to sRGB for posting. I use something close to sRGB at 100 nits for web browsing but my monitor doesn't have true sRGB emulation as I can only select gamma 2.2 rather ...

Re: 2021 Fall colors thread

I prefer snowshoes that are designed for women. The foot placement is different so you can walk with your feet closer together.

Re: 2021 Fall colors thread

bobcat, that's quite the catalog. All from one hike? justpeachy that's remarkable. I didn't realize there was a larch forest there; I have only driven past on my way to the Wallowas. Thanks for giving me motivation to camp there some time. Local roads have been pretty too. I'll put some photos up la...

The north side appears to have plenty of climbing potential too.

Re: South Sister Mystery Trail

The trail snakes through the lava flow, mostly going downhill. Just after one mile, the trail ended. Guess what was there. Absolutely nothing. No measuring device, no remnant of a lookout, no Indian Pits, nothing that wasn’t just plain rock. Very anticlimactic. That really is a mystery! If it...
