Re: What gear do you keep in your car when overlanding?

An air compressor is a necessity. Unless you have low profile tires you will want to air down on rough roads for comfort, control, and traction. I like the Viair 88P. Get a good tire plug kit . I recommend a dynamic snatch strap or recovery rope. I've used mine to pull out other people several times...

Do you have a sense of the maximum slope that is comfortable for you? Is a trail that stays about the same elevation but has repeated ups and downs or signi...

For certain, it would be a judgement call. In the summer it can be fine in the morning but then in the afternoon be high.
In September last year water at that crossing was higher at 5:40PM than it was a 4PM. I didn't expect levels to continue to rise into the evening.

I wear thin nylon gaiters. And merino wool socks. Maybe that would help. There's some thickness - I don't know how long snake fangs are
Add a few extra pairs of socks maybe!

Re: Mill Creek Ridge Preserve 5/30

Where do you start this hike? I have been to the old Mill Creek Lookout site but that doesn't appear to be close to this.

Re: Hike Up - Not Down

If you find any good options please post them as I would benefit also.

If you can find someone compatible who likes to hike down hill instead: for any trail with vehicle access at both ends you could drop them at the top and let them drive your car up from the bottom.
