Re: hikes you can get to by transit
Last year (before the fire), I did an overnight starting from Multnomah falls using just bus, max, and gorge express. It felt great seeing another hiker headed out on the express as I was coming back. Bus buddies!

Re: Missing hiker believed to be victim of cougar attack
If not for someone finding her pack, this woman may have been forever missing. I suspect there may have been other fatal attacks that we''ll never know about. Gerren Kirk and Riley Zikel come to mind. All very tragic... In 2016, I was on the PCT near Jefferson Park when the ground and aerial crews ...

Re: Wildcat gravel pit to Huckleberry Mountain
Great report! This is an area I recently discovered and will most definitely be taking more trips here.
You mentioned not seeing any other reports in this area, but check out my trip report from 3 weeks ago!

Re: Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness - 6/29 to 7/1/18
I had a close owl encounter once near my home in Tigard... Remembering that their claws are sharp and stronger than humans hands, I too was concerned that we could hear it hooting but not see it. I know they are silent fliers, allowing them to pick off prey nearly undetected. However, we only saw i...

Re: Butte Camp Dome Loop Hike
Thanks for the snow update. I'm also planning a Loowit circumambulation in the coming weeks and am curious if you or anyone else here has specific feedback on whether or not they think the trail is clear for the loop. Thanks!

Re: Wildwood trail in a day
Nice report! I'm planning this same hike by the end of summer this year. Any water fountains or other sources that can be relied on? Or is caching water the only option to avoid carrying 5+ liters? Thanks! EDIT: Looks like I don't have access to your Gaia gps file. I logged in to Gaia, but I think y...

Re: Larch Mountain Loop
Thanks for the comments, all. As far as how I got home on day 2, I summited Larch mtn early in the morning and then followed the normal way back to the Multnomah falls parking lot. Going down I passed a lot people coming the other way and also set a personal goal of hiking 10 miles before 10am which...
