Mt. Defiance - the loop hike 05/26/19
With a group of friends did the Defiance trail to the summit and came down the Starvation ridge via Warren lake and then to the Defiance trail cut-off back to TH. It was a 14.41 mile and EG of 5350 hike. Only small traces of snow about 1/2 mile to the summit. The defiance trail has been rerouted in ...

Falls Creek Falls Hike 032419

Within the first 1/4 mile into the hike, I passed everyone I'd meet for the day and had the entire trail to me after that. I am pretty certain no one else besides ...

Re: Mt. Hebo Hike -01/01/19
Tom and Jerry, I double checked with a friend who hikes in that area quite frequently and he also mentioned seeing one sometime back. This is my 2nd sighting, in May 2014 on my way to St. Helens summit, a Cougar crossed my path about 1/2 a mile from the worm flows winter trail head, it stopped on th...

Mt. Hebo Hike -01/01/19
Afrer a nearly 2hr drive, arrived at TH at 10.18am, that included a steep mountain side ride for another 4.5 miles, but the road is in great shape. No other car in front of the closed gate, we geared up and started the hike, first passing Lake Hebo, and then thru 2 miles of beautiful old growth fore...
