Re: Falls Creek Falls Hike 032419

Yes there is a track and for 2 reasons, its not effective, one being that if everyone followed the track it would get more compacted, but people have been walking all over and the the track is not easily visible. Secondly, with the warming up of weather, and under layers melting, there is post holin...

Falls Creek Falls Hike 032419

Right off the bat 2-3 feet of snow from the road. The hike to the TH from the road was a relentless pot holey affair, missed snow shoes. Within the first 1/4 mile into the hike, I passed everyone I'd meet for the day and had the entire trail to me after that. I am pretty certain no one else besides ...

Re: Mt. Hebo Hike -01/01/19

Tom and Jerry, I double checked with a friend who hikes in that area quite frequently and he also mentioned seeing one sometime back. This is my 2nd sighting, in May 2014 on my way to St. Helens summit, a Cougar crossed my path about 1/2 a mile from the worm flows winter trail head, it stopped on th...

Mt. Hebo Hike -01/01/19

Afrer a nearly 2hr drive, arrived at TH at 10.18am, that included a steep mountain side ride for another 4.5 miles, but the road is in great shape. No other car in front of the closed gate, we geared up and started the hike, first passing Lake Hebo, and then thru 2 miles of beautiful old growth fore...

Tamanawas Falls Hike 12/22/18

Arrived at the Tamanawas TH at ~10.00 AM, Parking lot had a number of cars already. The TH was slick and it was clear traction was required. Quite a few were up and about the trail, much to my surprise. Snow was packed due to foot traffic, but icy most stretches. Actually wanted to do the loop from ...
