Yoakam Point

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

View to Bastendorff Beach from Yoakam Point (bobcat)
Narrow bands of tilted rock at Mussel Reef, Yoakam Point (bobcat)

Description

You can walk along the narrow northernmost promontory of Yoakam Point above a narrow abyss. From here, you’ll get more views to the Cape Arago Lighthouse, the narrow rock ridges of Mussel Reef (Coaledo Formation), and Bastendorff Beach and the Coos River’s South Jetty to the north. The area is a smelt spawning ground from May to August.
