Driving Directions
From Coos Bay:
From the center of Coos Bay, drive north on Highway 101 about two miles to the traffic light at Newmark Avenue.
Turn left here for Charleston and State Parks, and proceed 2.9 miles. The road makes a sharp left bend for Highway 540W, Sunset Bay State Park, and Shore Acres State Park, and becomes S. Empire Boulevard (Cape Arago Highway).
Drive 7.9 miles, crossing the South Slough and passing through Charleston. You’ll pass turnoffs for parking areas at Sunset Bay: Where the road bends left, turn right into the Sunset Bay South Parking area, where there’s a large restroom building and a shaded picnic area.
From North Bend:
In North Bend, travel south from where Highway 101 splits, and continue 1.4 miles on Sherman Avenue.
Turn right on Newmark Avenue for Charleston and State Parks, and proceed 2.7 miles. The road makes a sharp left bend for Highway 540W, Sunset Bay State Park, and Shore Acres State Park, and becomes S. Empire Boulevard (Cape Arago Highway).
