Driving Directions

Note that the road to the trailhead was closed by a landslide for several years until recently, but as of 2022 it is open again.

From I-5, take Exit 30 at Medford, and then head west on Highway 230 through Jacksonville to the small community of Applegate.

Just over the green steel bridge, turn south (left) on Thompson Creek Road Road for 11.9 miles of pavement and another 2.8 miles of good gravel.

Then turn right (west) over a bridge - look for "Steve Fork Trail" signs - then immediately fork left (south) onto FR 1030 for 11 miles of good gravel (clearance generally good for sedans) to a large parking area at road's end.

  • There are no amenities at the trailhead. You can also reach this trailhead from Grants Pass by taking Hwy 199 west to its junction with Hwy 230 and then taking Hwy 230 south to just before the green bridge.
