Sled Camp

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Junction at Sled Camp with piece of old wood stove, Riley Creek Trail (bobcat)

Description

Sled Camp was an old pre-World War II sheep camp. You’ll notice the remains of an Anita wood stove at the junction marked "64" on the Riley Creek Trail, just east of the Riley Creek-Riley South Trail Junction. If you take this old trail, you'll see it branches after a few yards. The left fork leads to a meadow, and the right fork leads past an old outhouse in the trees, then through a meadow and on into the woods.

Most of the meadows here have now been colonized by conifers. In the days of the big backcountry sheep flocks, these meadows were much more extensive.
