Round Lake Dam

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The Round Lake Dam during the winter (Jeff Statt)
Carefully working passed the gears atop the dam (Steve Hart)

Round Lake is a natural lake, but a dam was built in 1883, raising the water level about 12 feet. Today's dam in actually the third on the site, replacing two earlier wooden structures. The walkway atop the dam weaves around handles and gears used to manually open and close the spillways.
