Description
Red Mountain, at 9,555 feet, is the 14th highest peak in Oregon and the 8th highest point of prominence in the Wallowas. It is the county high point of Baker County. It has a long summit ridge which can be accessed from the meadows off the Cliff Creek Trail south of Crater Lake. One of the tree lines going up to the ridge is the best route, but you will still have about 800-1,000 feet of scree before you top the ridge line. Then it's an easy, panorama-filled walk to the top. You can record your visit in the summit register.
