Plaza-Salmon Mountain Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Junction on the Plaza Trail with the Salmon Mountain Trail (bobcat)

Description

This junction on the Plaza Trail #783 is about 3 1/4 miles from the Twin Springs Trailhead and 1 3/4 miles after Sheepshead Rock. The Salmon Mountain Trail #787 heads up to the ridge line from here and then keeps close to the ridge as it heads towards its destination. The trail is not frequently maintained and passes through rhododendron thickets before dropping below Salmon Mountain on a rough track. The trail used to continue from Salmon Mountain down to Cheeney Creek, but this section down the slope has been taken over by the rhododendrons.
