Pacific Crest-Gibson Lake Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

PCT-Gibson Lake Trail Junction, Olallie Lake Scenic Area (bobcat)

Description

This junction is about 200 yards south of the Pacific Crest-Horseshoe Saddle Trail Junction. The Gibson Lake Trail follows the route of the old Oregon Skyline Trail. The latter, which became the Pacific Crest Trail, was rerouted further west after the redrawing of the Warm Springs Reservation boundary 1972 based on the 1887 survey by John A. McQuinn, a dispute which took 85 years to settle.
