Driving Directions
From downtown Portland:
Driving I-405 North, take Exit 3 for Highway 30 West and St. Helens.
Keep left, but stay in the middle lane as you travel through an underpass 0.9 miles to the Nicolai Street traffic light.
Keep straight here on Highway 30 for 8.5 miles and make a right turn onto N.W. Sauvie Island Road.
Drive 0.4 miles over the Wapato Bridge, and pull into the parking area for the Cracker Barrel Grocery on the left to get a day use permit.
From the grocery, go north 1.8 miles and then turn right onto NW Reeder Road for the Sauvie Island School, the Grange Hall, and Beaches.
Bear right here and drive 1.2 miles before making a left turn onto N.W. Oak Island Road.
Go 3.1 miles and keep straight at a fork.
Now drive on gravel for 0.6 miles to a four-way junction at a dike.
Keep straight here for 0.4 miles to the parking area at the gate to the Oak Island Nature Trail.
