Moon Falls

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Moon Falls (kaltbluter)
Moon Falls from the side (kaltbluter)

Description

About half a mile from the trailhead, Alex Creek tumbles in a 190-foot veil down a jagged basalt face. With the top of the falls exposed to the southern sky and the bottom shaded by trees, photographing this waterfall can be challenging. For the best photos, plan a trip on a cloudy day.

The waterfall is traditionally cited as being 100 feet tall, but the Northwest Waterfall Survey confirms the true height is 190 feet.

There is a picnic table near the falls.
