Description

After the McNeil Point Trail Junction, you follow a ridge up to this distinctive saddle. From here, you go up and to the right (southwest). The way is hard to see until you get right on it because of the heavy heather.

You can also go down to the left (east) and cross the outlet stream of the Alisan Glacier (West Fork Ladd Creek). From here, there is a large off-trail area to explore. It's possible to go off trail as far as Barrett Spur, the distinctive promontory jutting off the north side of Mount Hood.
