Lewis and Clark Park Old Growth Trailhead

Regulations or restrictions, etc

  • $10 day-use pass or annual Discover Pass required
  • Dogs on leash
  • Picnic tables, campground, interpretive trail
  • Park entrances closed September 30th – May 1st: walk-in hiking only during those months
  • Open 8:00 a.m. to dusk at other times of the year

Driving Directions

Drive I-5 north to Exit 68 for Highway 12E, Morton, and Yakima. After exiting, turn right on Highway 12.

Drive 2.5 miles, and turn right onto the Jackson Highway (Highway 99) at a four-way intersection.

After 0.2 miles, stop at the Jackson House, an 1845 cabin that was one of Washington’s first two state parks.

From the Jackson House, drive 1.6 miles south and turn right into Lewis & Clark State Park (The park is closed September 30th – May 1st: during the closed season park here and begin your hike at the Trail of the Deer Trailhead).

If the gate is open, then continue 0.5 miles, keeping right at all junctions, to the Old Growth Trailhead.
