Henry Brune Line Shack

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The line shack, Dalles Mountain Ranch (bobcat)

Description

Henry Brune, a nephew of Bill Brune (see the Brune Homestead Site) and veteran of the Franco-Prussian War, had a homestead claim on what is now the Dalles Mountain Ranch and ran sheep up over Stacker Butte to High Prairie and beyond. The line shack was a shelter built for shepherds in the 1890s.
