Foggy Flat

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Mount Adams from Foggy Flat. (Jerry Adams)
Campsite next to trail about 0.5 miles beyond Foggy Flat. (Jerry Adams)

Description

Foggy Flat is a nice alpine meadow on the north side of Mount Adams. There are several campsites and a year-round drinking water stream. This is a long way from the nearest trailhead and thus less well-known, so there probably won't be too many people in this area.

The main campsite is next to the trail at the meadow. The trail crosses the stream after that.

Before this, at the point where the trail first reaches the meadow, on the right, at the edge of the meadow is a crude trail that goes to a ridge with a view, goes up along the edge of the meadow to more alpine areas, and according to some hikers, you can connect up to Adams Glacier Meadows. There are a number of places to camp in this area.

About 0.5 miles after Foggy Flat is another nice campsite with a view.

If you get a chance, continue up the Highline Trail to Devils Gardens for the most spectacular alpine area you can get to on Mount Adams.
