This trail junction north of Elk Meadows is the north end of a loop circling the area. The Elk Meadows Trail #645 continues from here all the way down Cold Spring Creek and thence to the Polallie Trailhead. Heading west on the Elk Meadows Perimeter Trail, you will reach another junction in 25 yards. Go left at this unsigned intersection for the Elk Meadows Shelter. Keep right to continue on the Perimeter Trail and cross Cold Spring Creek on a footbridge.
