From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Elk Creek Trailhead

Hikes starting here

Driving Directions

From the merger of Highway 217 with Highway 26, drive 15.2 miles and bear left onto Highway 6 for Banks and Tillamook.

Drive 24.0 miles on Highway 6, passing over the Coast Range summit, and turn right for the Elk Creek Campground.

The Elk Creek Trailhead/Campground turnoff is at Milepost 28 (28 miles from Tillamook). Drive 0.3 miles to the trailhead, which is a short distance past the campground. Winter parking is on the right before the closed gate.

Elk Creek Campground is a nice campground if you're looking for that. There are 15 campsites up to 100 yards from the parking area. Some sites are right next to the Wilson River and Elk Creek. There is a clean outhouse. There are trees with some clearings providing sunlight even in the winter.
