Driving Directions
Take the Highway 3 (Fort Jones) exit from I-5 just south of Yreka.
Follow Highway 3 west for 40 miles to Callahan.
In Callahan, turn south on paved South Fork Road. After 0.8 miles, turn left on to gravel road FR 40N16 (note that sign may or may not be obvious).
After 0.4 miles, continue up to the right on FR 40N17 (again, sign may not be obvious).
Ignoring the private driveways along this stretch, continue 1.9 miles on this moderately rough gravel road (OK for sedans but take it easy) to McKeen Divide.
Here, turn uphill to the left for 2.9 miles.
Then turn uphill to the left again on to FR 39N10 for two rough miles to the trailhead. There is parking just beyond the culvert on the left; the trailhead sign is 100 feet further up the road. There are no amenities at the trailhead.
