Description

Crane Lake is a long, narrow floodplain lake on the northwest side of Sauvie Island. The lake drains north via Crane Slough into the Multnomah Channel of the Willamette River. Crane Lake supports a healthy population of summer-blooming wapato, or broadleaf arrowhead (Sagittaria latifolia), the staple food of the indigenous peoples of the area.
