Courtney Road Trailhead

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The Courtney Road Trailhead (Steve Hart)
This gate is directly ACROSS the road from the trail (Steve Hart)
  • Hikes including this location:
    • This was never a real trailhead, but trails leading east from here are posted 'No entry' as of 2012 because they lead onto private land. In time, the Forest Service may develop trails through here on public lands.

NOTE: The following description is for interest only. The trails leading east from this former trailhead into the Coyote Canyon area run mostly on private land and can no longer be hiked.

This former trailhead is difficult to spot, if easy to get to. By foot, you'll either arrive on the Coyote Canyon Trail, or you'll find the trailhead by walking down Courtney Road 0.8 miles from Atwood Road, just past a green house. By car, drive up Courtney Road 3.3 miles to the trailhead.

In either event the Coyote Canyon Trail heads into the woods toward the south. The trailhead is completely unmarked. It best found by spotting the bicycle tracks.
