Coldwater Peak

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Coldwater Peak from the Boundary Trail (payslee)

Description

Coldwater Peak offers dramatic views of the Mount Saint Helens blast zone, Mount Margaret back country, and wildflower blooms in late June through July. Farther north, you can see the entire Mount Venus Ridge and Mount Rainier. To the south, Mount Hood is visible over the left shoulder of Mount Saint Helens. The Boundary and Coldwater Trails offer access to this peak, both displaying great views, long miles, and few or no water sources along the way.

This used to be a prime lookout site, a cabin lookout being constructed here in the 1930s. It was demolished in 1968. Now, there is volcano monitoring equipment just below the summit rocks.
