Cannery Hill Viewpoint

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Looking towards the Little Nestucca River valley from the viewing platform (bobcat)

Description

The zigzagging, universal access Pacific View Trail leads up to a viewing platform with sweeping views of the Little Nestucca River valley and north along the coast to Nestucca Spit, Haystack Rock, Cape Kiwanda, Cape Lookout, and Saddle Mountain. You may see cows in the fields just south of the viewing platform.

Interpretive signs describe the flora, fauna, and restoration efforts. The meadow herel is being carefully restored to provide habitat for the endangered Oregon silverspot butterfly (Speyeria zerene hippolyta) and its food source, the western blue violet (Viola adunca). An array of wildflowers blooms here in the spring.
