Burlington Creek Upper Crossing

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Burlington Creek at the Ancient Forest Preserve (bobcat)

Description

The road loop crosses Burlington Creek in the Forest Park Conservancy’s Ancient Forest Preserve. Here, there’s a box-like bench overlooking the creek and a set of steps, off limits most of the year, leading up to the right. In spring, you will probably hear the clamoring of bald eagle nestlings as they constantly beg to be fed. Parents shuttling back and forth can be seen overhead.

The trail loop into the ancient forest, with its tall hemlocks and Douglas-firs, can be hiked by the public in summer and fall, after the bald eagles have departed.
