Dungeness Spit, Sequim WA 4-14-08

Posted by Bryan (2008-04-15)

Not quite in the neighborhood of Portland, but I thought I'd share anyway. The Dungeness Spit is on the north side of the Olympic Pennisula just outside of Sequim. The spit is natural and all sand, and it extends for 5 miles from the shoreline. At the end is the New Dungeness Lighthouse which is open to visitors from 9-5pm. We had missed the visiting hours but still had a good time.

Here is a link to my report at NWHikers.net:

A few pics to wet your pallette.

Awww, my mom used to take me out there all the time when I was a kid. Loved it. It was always a looooooooong walk back from the lighthouse for a 10-year old. I remember being bribed with red vines and butterscotch candies. "If you make it to that gnarly piece of driftwood, you can have a red vine and we'll take a break."

It's been YEARS since I've been out there! Great pics!

That's a nice hike.  Nice pictures.

There's a nice county campground near the trailhead.
