*photo intensive* I headed out early on Saturday (4/12/08) to find some wildflowers and some new trails (new to me anyway). Based on other posts here and on a wildflower website, I decided on Catherine Creek and Tom McCall Point.
I arrived at the Catherine Creek trailhead at about 7:30am and hiked the short loop through the valley, up above the arch and down to the road and parking lot. Here are some pictures from Catherine Creek. I'd write captions, but it would just reveal my lack of flower ID knowledge.
Next, I headed across the Columbia to Rowena Crest Viewpoint, trailhead to Tom McCall Point. Once again, I was treated to a great hike without seeing another soul until I was on my way back down the trail. It pays to get up early!

Based on what I saw, the wildflowers are just beginning, so I'm sure I'll be back this spring for some more.

I certainly agree with getting out there early. My wife and I are learning this well. We've been going early and enjoy the solitude on the trails. We haven't really seen people until we are heading back down, and its nice to know that we're all done by the time some people are just getting there :)

Wow Brett your photos are wonderful! I did those same two hikes last week and didn't get nearly as nice of photos. Definitely a lesson in POV for me! Thanks for all the great ideas of how to shoot the same scenery yet make it look better. What kind of camera are you using?

Wonderful photos! Sorry about the poison oak... it's pretty nasty along the Tom McCall trail.
