Frosty Multnomah Falls 1/22/08

Posted by pdxgene (2008-01-22)

A cold and windy day in the Gorge made for a series of short walks and nice photo ops today.  These could get a little scary standing directly under them..

Frozen spray of Multnomah Falls..

A bunch more on a day when the weather kept the crowds away at http://picasaweb.google.com/pdxgene/MultnomahFalls1

And this is definitely a work in progress that I've only just now tried a couple times, and a tripod would probably help,  but here's Bridle Veil Falls with a slower shutter speed.

Very pretty and very cold out there today..

Wow.  What a difference a few days can make.  On 01-19-2008, Multnomah Falls looked like this:

And the fog was so thick at Crown Point that the Columbia River wasn't even visible from the Vista House..

However, there was snow mixed with rain at Bonneville Dam shortly afterward... so it was only a matter of time before the gorge was due for frosty conditions.
