If you didn't like the weather at the moment, the Oregon Coast was the place to be today. It changed about every fifteen minutes. Here's a quick photo journey of a long drive interrupted by a few brief hikes..
First stop, a raging Little Nestucca River..
The signs on Highway 101 , along the access road , and at the trailhead, all said Munson Creek Falls was closed. I guess we didn't notice them until the way out. Although 'closed' , they were still 'on'. This is the lower bowl..
There was a bit of moss hanging on the trees..
Lunch was a bit different from the usual routine today. The Pelican Bay Brewpub. The little sampler tray of seven of their brews and a heap of local caught fish and chips made for a much better and much more expensive break than normal. Really good rootbeer too. Good thing the 'hikes' after that were only more of a walk..
The skies made for great watching along the beach at Cape Kiwanda..
And we finished off with a mad late-afternoon dash deep into the darkening forest on a road with just the slightest layer of snow to take the quick downhill stroll to an absolutely roaring University Falls. The spray up close was like being blasted with a million really tiny little ice pellets. It was fun to stand in for very brief moments.. The rest of the roll is at.. http://picasaweb.google.com/pdxgene/CapeKiwanda
