7 days in the mountains Posted by yosemite hiker (2007-08-14)

I thought some of you might enjoy some photos from my last trip in the Sierra. It was a 7 day loop starting and finishing in Yosemite with about half of it off trail. We had a great time! The person who posted the Ediza Lake picture might recognize some of the area.
I hope you enjoy the pics and music.

Impressive slideshow! One of these years I will get to the Sierra. How crowded was it on trail vs. off trail? Did you notice any other parties on or near your route while off trail? |

Every time you post something from the Sierra's, I get really homesick for them!! The slideshow really motivated me to start planning a trip next Summer. Thank you!! |

Cool. So it looks like you went though the Ansel Adams wilderness area as well as Yosmite. Did you start from the Ansel Adams wilderness area? Where was Ediza Lake in the slideshow because I did not recognize in the slideshow but I think I saw Thousand Island
Lake I have some pics of Mount Ritter, Banner Peak, The minarets and Ediza Lake in my gallery.
Also was this earlier in the season rather than recently? The reason I ask is that this last winter in the sierras was a dry one but yet looking at some of the beginning pictures there seems to still be a decent snowpack left in some areas. Last August I went hiking in the John Muir and Ansel Adams Wilderness areas and there was still a lot of snow left because of the heavy winter snowfall of 2005 and 2006.
Ya I love the sierras too but I prefer to go when there is a lot of runoff. I especially like the John Muir and Ansel Adams wilderness areas along with the Kings Canyon National Park.

Really nice slide show and awesome photos! I like the one with the mountain's reflection in the lake and the very blue lake amidst the black lava rock. Also love the moon pic. Did you design the slide show? Great text. Very entertaining. I haven't hiked in the Sierras. I would love to, though. |
