Burdoin Mountain

Posted by cluain (2007-01-20)

This is a great hiking area East of White Salmon just across the river from Hood River. You can do a short car shuttle and take in Burdoin and Coyote Wall or do several loops around Burdoin.A lot of nice oak trees and you can hike for miles along the meadows with incredible views. Most of the land belongs to the Krebs family but they dont mind hikers and cyclists using the property as long as we respect where we hike. There are no maps so you would have to wander around or go on a hike with someone who knows the area.

A few of us hiked it on Friday and it was beautiful out there. Sun was shining above 800 feet with about 3 inches of snow on the upper elevations. There's a lot of game around there. WE saw dozens of big cat tracks. Some so fresh, there was fresh blood on the paw prints.Probably, they had just finished their breakfast.

I've never heard of this one, but I'm guessing it's one of those that caught my eye while traveling up to the Mt Adams area.  Does the summit overlook Hood River?  Any pics? :)
