Description
This former gravel pit is probably about as far as you want to go in Wallace Marine Park as the trail system deteriorates rapidly after this, with some mountain bike routes and use trails extending to private property. In Wallace Marine Park, most of the space is given over to ball fields, so the best walking is on the bark chip trails in the cottonwood-shaded corridor along the Willamette.
A new master plan aims to do a makeover of the whole area, converting the gravel pit into a more extensive lake and pushing the park road farther back from the river.
