Looking down on Lower Twin Lake (bobcat)
Upper Twin Lake, Twin Lakes (bobcat)

Description

The Twin Lakes are two shallow cirque lakes in the Elkhorn Range at the headwaters of Lake Creek. Mountain goats graze in the lush meadows above and below the lakes in the summer when an abundance of blooms lights up this little valley. There are a few campsites scattered above the lower Twin Lake. Both Rock Creek Butte and Elkhorn Peak rear above the lakes to the north, while to the south a steep wall of rugged oceanic argillite fences in this alpine wonderland.

The Twin Lakes Trail #1633 climbs to this point from the Twin Lakes Trailhead; the Elkhorn Crest National Recreation Trail is less than a mile up on the crest via five lazy switchbacks.
