Tips on identifying Mariposa Lilies

There are two species of Mariposa Lilies, also called Star Tulips, in our area.

tinted purple; grows at low elevation Cat's Ear Calochortus tolmiei
tinted yellow; grows at high elevation Subalpine Mariposa Lily Calochortus subalpinus


There are other species in eastern Washington and Oregon, and others in the Siskiyous.
