Description

This is the lower end of Ed's Trail. The closed road switches back here and the single track Ed's Trail heads up the mountain. There's a great view of the SDtarway Canyon and Mount Hood from here, as well as views north to Mount Saint Helens and Mount Rainier.

Hikers climbing Silver Star have a couple of choices here. The simpler path is to continue up the closed road to the summit. The more interesting route, up Ed's Trail passes through a the Ed's Trail Arch and has better views, but there's a bit of overhand climbing.
