Description
Rooster Rock is a 120-foot Wanapum basalt monolith that is actually part of a landslide that originated from the cliffs of Crown Point above. Look carefully, and you might make out the place from which this pinnacle originated. Because of its shape, the rock has been given several vulgar nicknames in the past.
Lewis and Clark camped near here on November 2nd, 1805. A small cannery operated in the cove just west of Rooster Rock in the late 19th/early 20th century. The pilings are still there.
