Driving Directions

Drive I-84 east to Exit 64 for Highway 35, White Salmon, and Government Camp.

After exiting, turn left on Button Bridge Road for Bingen, White Salmon, and the Toll Bridge. Drive 1.1 miles, paying the $1 toll at the Hood River Bridge, and cross to the Washington side of the Columbia.

Turn right here for Bingen and White Salmon, and go east for 11.0 miles.

After crossing the Klickitat River and entering the town of Lyle, turn left onto Highway 142 for Klickitat and Wahkiacus. Head up the Klickitat River for 23.8 miles.

After Wahkiacus, the paved road narrows as it heads up steep slopes. At a junction marked for Glenwood and Wildlife Viewing Area, turn left. Drive another 4.3 miles and turn left onto Soda Springs Road.

Drive 1.7 miles to a junction (after ¼ mile the road becomes gravel).

Keep right here for Soda Springs (left is Anderson Road). The next junction is 0.1 miles later. Keep left here for Soda Springs.

Keep to the main track from now on for 2.3 miles (passing the junction for Soda Springs, right after 0.2 miles) to a junction. Find a place to park off the road in the vicinity of this junction. You’ll be hiking cross-country directly east towards the oaks on a ridge.
