Description
Mount Washington is one of the Cascade shield volcanoes. It is a late Pleistocene volcano less than a million years old. During the last ice age, the mountain was surrounded by an ice sheet whose actions exposed the volcanic plug. The volcano's last eruption, from one of the cones on its flanks, was about 1,350 years ago
Mount Washington's summit plug is a steep but popular Class 5 ascent.
