Lost Corral

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Revision as of 01:10, 14 October 2016 by Bobcat (Talk | contribs)

Lost Corral, Cottonwood Canyon State Park (bobcat)

Description

The corral here, once part of the Murtha Ranch, has a cattle chute and several pens. A shady hackberry grows against the basalt cliff: these useful trees, members of the cannabis family, are near the northern end of their range here.

Passing through the corral, follow the road track to where it splits: going right leads up broad Esau Canyon. Keeping left takes you on the short Esau Loop down to the river and back to the main jeep track.
